Sagay, Oritsejafor Make Olu Of Warri’s 26-man Think-tank
THE Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame
Ikenwoli, yesterday, inaugurated a 26-
man think-tank, known as the Olu-in-
Council, to create a master plan that will
enhance the development of Itsekiri/
Iwere land and its people.
Members of the council include Prof. Itse
Sagay, Chiefs Yahaya Pessu, Isaac O.
Jemide, Brown Mene, Francis Omatseye,
Ayirimi Emami, Roland Oritsejafor, Kofi
Kartey, Thomas Ereyitomi, Rita Lori-
Ogbebor, and P.E.B Uku.
Others are: Prince Eroro Emiko, Dr.
Andrew Ayu, Ebiyemi Emiko, Toritseju E.
Emiko, Pa J.O.S Ayonmike, Edward
Ekpoko, Alex Neyin, Mrs. Patricia
Otuedon Arawore, P.K Gbragada, Jolomi
Rewane, Dr. Ebietsuwa Omatsola, Charles
Ajuyah (SAN), Dr. Jackson Reyeforju and
two youth representatives.
The council is expected to provide advice
on local and national issues, formulate
conflict resolution strategies, as well as
develop and update a data bank of
qualified Itsekiri in readiness for
placement.
Other responsibilities include ensuring
there is a national purse for the people,
pursuing finance for palace activities
and other projects, as well as setting up
of an archive/library/museum for the
Itsekiri nation.
While inaugurating the council members
at his palace in Warri, the Olu said he
envisages a strong, united Itsekiri nation
that will coexist peacefully with her
neighbours.
He charged the council to develop a 10-
year master plan for Iwere land to
harness human resources and initiate a
template for partnering oil companies
and other entities for sustainable
development.
Prof. Itse Sagay told The Guardian that
by setting up the council, the Olu wants
to consolidate on resources from Itsekiri
to move the nation forward.
Notable women leader and activist, the
Igba of Warri, Chief Rita Lori-Ogbebor,
praised the Olu for inaugurating the
think-tank, saying the formation of the
team is long over due.
