Wike: APC stopped Osibanjo from commissioning my projects

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has decried what he described as ‘politics of under-development’ being promoted by some politicians  from the state, saying that he will remain committed to developing the state despite plots to distract him. Speaking while commissioning the Rukpokwu -Aluu Road and Rumuokoro Market and Park in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Thursday, Governor Wike said Rivers people must take note of those who are bent on frustrating development in the state. The two projects were billed to be commissioned by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.  The Acting President had earlier commissioned two roads before leaving for Abuja. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has maintained that the current photographs of President Muhammadu Buhari meeting with a delegation of Nigerian Governors Forum, NGF, are true. Mohammed also shared some photographs of Buhari’s meeting with six governors who jetted out to London on Wednesday night. The Minister, who took to his official twitter handle, @MohammedLai, on Thursday, wrote: “This the true and authentic photograph of our beloved leader, father and President. Today marks 80days since he went to rest. Get well Sir.” Just yesterday,  Buhari received seven state governors  who travelled to visit him in London. Despite the trending photo op of seven governors’ visit to President Muhammadu Buhari, anticipated by many to silence critics like Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, the former minister of Aviation has advised the President, who had been on medical leave in London since May 7, to throw in the towel. Writing on his Twitter handle on Thursday, Fani-Kayode maintained that “It is an act of cruelty to expect this poor man to lead a nation of 180 million.Let him resign, go home and rest!” In an apparent reaction to the visit of the governors from six geopolitical zones lead by Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara to Buhari in London, the ex-minister said, “The President/Presidency is not meant to be a tourist attraction,a museum of old fossils or a mausoleum of decaying bodies to be viewed by curious dignitaries in a distant foreign land.”

State governors who visited Buhari in London alongside his official photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo have landed in the country safely.  7 governors  who travelled to London to visit Nigeria’s ailing President, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday have returned after meeting with him at the Abuja House. They were welcomed by their aides and supporters at the airport with journalist lurking around for brief interviews. Pictures of the State governors of the People’s Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress with Buhari littered the social media space yesterday thereby quelling rumours that the President was dead. The governors were led by Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara and included governors of Ebonyi, Kano, Benue, Akwa Ibom, and Oyo. Leader of Nigeria’s secessionist group, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has been threatened by the Nri community in Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State for alleged taboo in Nri culture. Eze Obidiegwu Onyesoh, aide to the traditional ruler of Nri community, Chief Ifeanyi Onyesoh, announced the plan to journalists, in Awka, on Thursday. He said the people were angry over Kanu’s alleged misconduct. Onyesoh said Kanu with his wife, Uchechi, and supporters visited the palace of Eze Nri, on July 19, and a shrine against the tradition of the people. He noted Nri ancient Kingdom is the cradle of Igbo civilisation, whose culture is revered in the five southeast states of Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Anambra as well as Igbo communities in Delta and Rivers.
